Public consultation in B2G EU e-invoicing
Got any burning issues relating to B2G (Business to Government) e-invoicing which you’re eager to get off your chest?
Well now’s your chance! To help take us all to the broad sunlit
uplands of pan-European e-invoicing interoperability, currently
accounting for only 5%-15% of all transactions, the European Commission
invite Public authorities, citizens and enterprises to contribute their
ideas through a public consultation.
The objective is to raise awareness and therefore promote the uptake of
invoices generated via EDI, XML or web-based forms which can be
automatically integrated into buyers’ Accounts Payable systems.
It is hoped, because Public Authorities are the largest purchasers in
the EU that they’ll be the driving force for the broader uptake of B2B
(Business to Business) e-invoicing. This might be wishful thinking
given the Euro hiatus and general sclerosis towards agents for change in
the EU.
However, the administrative savings promised may be the driver in
pushing this forward from the top, so hopefully facilitating a downward
spiral in purchasing cycle costs and therefore in its own small way,
helping to ease the burden on European public debts.
