EU Architectural Tenders by Sector
The largest single area of Architectural Tenders & Design Contests is covered by the rather unglamorous area General Public Services. This concurs that most Architectural opportunities advertised in the OJEU are bread and butter work for local government. With public spending squeezes across the EU kicking in this year it will be interesting to see how 2011’s figures look in comparison.| Architectural Tenders EU By Sector 2010 |

EU Architectural Tenders & Design Contests by Country Bloc
The key player France, taking the lion’s share at 43% only accounts for 16% of the EU’s GDP. Although these figures aren’t based on value but simply the number of Contract Notices classified under Architectural CPV codes published in the Official Journal in 2010, they do give an indication of activity in the high end of the Public Sector and the fact that France is disproportionately more prolific than other countries in this field. Surprisingly, the combined economies of the UK, Germany and Italy, representing 47% of the EU’s only account for 20% of the Invitations to Tender published in this field.

Growth in EU Architectural Tenders & Design Contests 2006-2010
| Over the last five years the number of opportunities for Architects published in the European Official Journal in the EU and EEA has more than doubled. For the tenders this figure is in fact over 110% with a 3% dip in 2010 from 2009 accounted for by the general recessionary times filtering through. Design contests have grown by 85% over the past five years but far from there being a recessionary dip between 2009 and 2010 there was in fact an increase of 6%. France accounted for a staggering 64% of all Architectural Design Contests published over this five year period. |
